These are a few of my favorite things - 2011.

I’ve done this every year since I first started on tumblr. Here are a few things that I received for Christmas this year.

Cafe du Monde coffee and chicory. I’ve heard so many good things about this popular coffee from New Orleans (or Noo-Awlins). I’m excited to try it.

Very dark chocolate. I like my chocolate fairly dark. :)

White wool yarn. It’s not vegan but I’m still going to use it since my brother got it for me (and I think he put some thought into it since it’s not made from any synthetic materials like acrylic or poly-suchandsuch).

Wicked Plants by Amy Stewart. I recently read Stewart’s other book, Wicked Bugs and I couldn’t put it down. It’s filled with so much weird (and frightening) information about the natural world around us. I can’t wait to start reading this one.

Farm Anatomy by Julia Rothman. Agricultural eye candy. I really wanted to snap a few photos of the inside to post it on here but due to copyright reasons, I can’t. BUT, I highly recommended looking here, here, and here for snapshots of Rothman’s charming book.

The Art Museum. Knowing that I’m a major art freak, my sister bought me this tome of an art book. It’s essentially an art museum in a book. At nearly 1000 pages and weighing more than a pair of newborn twins, this thing is HUUGEE. It’s extremely comprehensive covering art from all countries throughout the ages. My sister got the idea from her co-worker who also gave it to his art-loving sister after hearing about it on NPR. Read about it here.

Good coffee, good chocolate, a warm scarf, and good readings… I’ll be occupied for the chilly winter days ahead.
