Resolutions of Twenty-Eleven.
It’s New Year’s Eve. Time to make resolutions that I may or may not keep!
This is from my “Resolutions of Twenty-Ten” New Year’s post from a year ago:
Goals for 2010:
1) Live in the moment. Now… now… now.
2) Do well in my remaining 6-7 classes at Cal (home stretch!)
3) Do well in my nursing pre-reqs at Chabot (and determine if nursing is the right career).
4)...

Foodstuffs.
I forgot to include my favorite food gifts. I got a lot of food this year (since food is such a big part of my life now). Here goes:
#1: Jams
I plan on using both of these jams mainly for my baking adventures. I’ve been craving figs since September. I really like Bonne Maman— no HFCS, faux-sugar, or weird chemicals. I want to make Fig Newtons with the fig preserves....

These Are A Few of My Favorite Things.
Last year, I briefly wrote about some of the gifts that I received for Christmas (see here and here). It’s kinda like Oprah’s Favorite Things except my favorite things are about 20x less expensive lol. Well, here’s this year’s list.
A set of two Chinese brushes and some ink. I probably won’t use the ink because the dragon and phoenix design is too pretty to mess...

Christmas.
I had a wonderful Christmas weekend. There is now A LOT of chocolate in our house. And we’re all lovers of DARK chocolate in my family (even my Dad). My brother and my sister both prefer ~70% but I like mine’s much darker… say, 90%? I haven’t tried anything more intense than 90%… but it looks like I soon will…
Yes. NINETY-NINE PERCENT cocoa content. I...

What Christmas Means To Me.
Christmas is one of those holidays where the journey is more fun than the actual destination. I enjoy the preparation more than the holiday. I love scheming with others and discussing what so and so would like. Christmas is a time to take others into consideration and contemplate what would make them happy (even if it drives you mad). Christmas is also a time for traditions— the decorating,...

Peanut butter cookies.
Christmas is on Saturday and I’m finally getting into the spirit.
Yesterday, we made peanut butter cookies. Peanut butter cookies are one of those cookies that you can’t really mess up. The ingredients are pretty standard: peanut butter, flour, sugar, a “butter” (we use earth balance), an “egg” (we used flax meal), and a pinch of salt. The only thing that...

Fall's End and Pomegranates.
I took my last final yesterday morning. It was easier than I expected. In previous exams, my prof would include tricky questions from standardized exams (like the NCLEX), but there weren’t any tricky ones yesterday.
And grades for my classes were available this morning. :) I’m happy.
So an hour after finishing my final, I was at home— teaching myself how to open a pomegranate...

I finally got into anatomy this afternoon! Added and paid for!
I was so used to seeing a whole list of “**Closed**“‘s on the anatomy course listings that when I finally saw an “**Open**”, my heart skipped a beat. And it’s not only an anatomy class… but it’s the exact anatomy class that I wanted. It’s the only one that fits perfectly with my...

Homestretch.
Had three exams this week. Just two finals left now. Almost done.
My mind’s all over the place. I’ve already sort of checked out…

Priorities.
I’ve recently gotten into using oil pastels. I’ve gotten better with them. They’re really fun to work with— a little stubborn but fun. They’re less fluid and fickle than paint but more forgiving than ink. And to think I found them by accident. :)
I probably shouldn’t be spending so much time on this b/c I have two exams next week— one on Monday and...

December.
November went by quickly but it was filled with accomplishments— academics, arts, and baking.
It’s December 1st. 17 more days until my last final. 24 more days until Christmas Eve. 31 more days of 2010. It’s going to be another amazing month.
